Details
Jeanneau Sun Odyssey 49DS. (2006 delivered new in Australia)
This one owner yacht is professionally managed and is probably the best set up of it`s type in the World. She has three cabins, convertible to two, and an extensive inventory. A near new Highfield tender on custom SS davits, electric Harken 60.2 ST primaries and a 44.2 coach roof mounted electric ST halyard. She is a standard draft yacht at 2.15 m and is powered by a Yanmar 4JHT3 75HP turbo shaft drive and an Onan 3.5KVA generator for the aircon and water maker. She has a SS max prop fitted and is also fitted with a bow thruster. Electronics are Raymarine and ICOM and she has WIFI and satellite communication systems. The complete inventory is available from Mooloolaba Yacht Brokers.
Ika-tere has been modified to enhance blue water passages. The yacht has travelled approximately 25,000 nm and will appeal to experienced and Novice sailors alike intending to travel offshore or undertake extensive coastal cruising. An overview of the modifications and enhancements made to make this yacht such a capable passage maker is set out below:
o The Dimension Sailcloth Hydranet sails are bulletproof. The main was designed with the maximum roach allowed by the backstays and with 5 battens. There are 2 single line reefs and a deep 3rd reef which acts as an effective trysail. The removable inner forestay is set up to carry a storm staysail- on passage the staysail is hanked onto the forestay in its own sail bag carrying separate sheets in preparation for easy early deployment. Ronstan roller bearing batten cars are fitted and the 1st and 2nd reef lines are run through Sparcraft mast blocks to minimise chafe.
o The large bow locker houses the 125sqm gennaker (in its sock) and is shelved to allow for storage of spare sheets, halyards diving equipment and sundry spares. The pulpit has been modified from the original to facilitate the deployment of the gennaker.
o The cockpit is enclosed in a Stamoid dodger (with polycarbonate windows for strength and visibility. External grab handles on the outside of the dodger assist movement onto the top of the coach roof); a broad Bimini with removable fillers between the dodger and Bimini and Bimini and davits giving wonderful sun and weather protection. There are clears that enclose the sides of the bimini/dodger.
o Dyneema preventer lines are attached to the end of the boom and bungee secured at the mast end of the boom.
o A Sea brake drogue together with 15 m of chain and 60m of warp are kept in the starboard lazarette, along with a bridle which can be run to the primary winches to provide emergency steering if rudder lost.
o There is 80m of chain and a Manson supreme anchor. This is supplemented by a Fortress anchor (stored in a bag in the Port cockpit locker).
o Below deck additional LED lights have been installed with red night lights in the galley and both heads. The aft cabin area has removable partitions (which can be stored under the mattresses) On passage the partitions are in place and there are lee cloths between the mattresses. The rear cabins have smoke and carbon monoxide alarms fitted.
o In addition to the satellite communication capability, there is an iCom HF/MF radio.
o The Raymarine chart plotters receive power through power smoothing units.
o The Freezer has been upgraded with an Isotherm dual compressor/hull cooled unit for double redundancy.
o The inventory of batteries is extensive (House; engine; bow thruster and winch - see parts inventory and operating manual). Charging is supplemented with solar.
o The SK (100ltrs/hour) water maker has no proprietary parts so could be repaired anywhere.
o A high volume Patay manual bilge pump located in the bilge area under the salon floor along with plastic piping allowing for the pump to be operated in the aft of the cockpit.
o The spare parts inventory is extensive, including such things as a spare (new) freshwater pump) and a spare new motor for the Raymarine autopilot.

It is extremely rare in this business to be able to use such superlatives as as pristine, immaculate, and offshore ready, however we have every confidence in using them to describe this yacht.
